France participated in the 1848 revolts, and in France the main goal was democratic government.
French King Charles X tried to return France to absolute monarchy, but was not supported and fled to Great Britain.
King Charles was replace by Louis-Philippe, but he soon also fell from power and the people established a republic.
France split into radical factions, one of which only wanted political reforms and the other wanted social and economic reforms. The violence of the between radicals was not well favored, so the moderates drafted a constitution that was accepted. The new constitution called for a parliament and strong president.
Nephew of Napoleon, Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte won the election in 1848 and later took the title of Emperor Napoleon III. He was supported by the people and France experienced a time of prosperity under his rule.

Begining in the 1820's, revaloutions sweapted acrossed all of Europe.
Revolutions were happening in Spain, Portragal, Russia, and Italy.
The first people to win self-rule during this period were the Greek's. For centuries, Greece was part of the Ottoman Empire. And The Ottoman Empire controlled most of the Balkans.
Why did leaders of powerful countries oppose revolution even though it wasn't directed towards them?
The European Government opposed the revolution. However because of the Greek independence it was popular around the world. And Educated Europeans and Greek's loved the Greek culture. Eventually The Nations Ethier sided with France or The Britains.
