Knowledge Frameworks
Historical Developments
Knowledge changes over the course of time. Thus as the history were in the past, it is less widely known to the modern knowledge. Thus the people who adapts it would be confused on how to interpret it towards the modern audience, and would adapt it according to the modern standard.
Methodology
Evidence cannot be created by the knowers, - refer to the History AOK
Making an adaptation would require a base knowledge - the history. As history has full of holes, knowers may fill it with creative and personal knowledges. But it could also be a form of bias and prejudice against the factual history. Or rather the history itself were inaccurately recorded - refer to methodology . which leads to the innacuracy

Bias
Confirmation Bias
Knowers misinterpret history because a well-known and existing believe had already been induced in the notion. They are commonly hindsighted by the mass produced entertainment shows without much elaboration
Cognitive bias
As history is a conflict of cultures, it is common for anyone to prefer what they had been experience through personal experiences. Knowledge will always be filtered by cognitive bias, and it is inevitable. thus, as the "History is written by the victors" goes, many historical knowledge will always have a tendency to be more on one side than the other
