Step 1: Identify the signs

Step 2: Trying to apply different instrctions in the classroom

Breaking tasks down into smaller steps
Providing extra practice or repetition
Provide multiple opportunities
Provide extra feedbacks
Step 3: Work with school's learning support team
Work with school's learning support team to assess students' needs.
Providing appropriate accommodations and modifications
Create a culture of inclusion and support for all students
Provide equal access to education and support services to all students
Individualized education plans
Assistive technology
Support from speech and occupational therapists
Step 4: Involving parents in helping students
Sharing strategies and resources for supporting their child at home.
Provide child's academic progress reports to their parents.
Regular updates child's behavioral performance to their parents.
Collaborate with parents to set goals and develop an improvement action plan.
Communicate with parents on a regular basis.
Suggest activities for parents to do at home to reinforce learning.
Encourage parents to attend parent-teacher conferences (PTC) to learn more about their child's progress.
Encourage parents to attend other school events to receive resources and support.
Step 5: Referred the student to the special education services
Work with school's learning support team to determine appropriate interventions.
If a student continues:
Exhibit persistent academic difficulties that are not responsive to targeted interventions and support.
Parents or other school educational advisors who are concerned about a student's learning or behavior can also initiate a referral.
Conduct the evaluation process to determine eligibility for special education services.
Exhibit persistent behavioral difficulties that are not responsive to targeted interventions and support.
