Pro-Criminal Attitudes:This suggests that when a person is exposed to a group, they will internalise their values and attitudes towards the law. if the number of pro-criminal attitudes the person acquires, outweigh the number of anti-criminal attitudes, they will go on to offend.
This suggests that it is likely that we can predict the likelihood of offending behaviour by measuring the exposure an individual has had with pro-criminal attitudes.
Learning Specific Criminal Acts:This occurs when a person learns specific techniques for committing a crime. This explains why some groups, communities, etc. are more likely to commit certain crimes than others. This also helps to explain why so many people reoffend, making the assumption that whilst in prison, they will be amongst others with pro-criminal attitudes and learn techniques and skills from them.
