Also known as the 'Beer hall putsch', this was led by Adolf Hitler. It aimed to take Berlin and solidify Hitler's influence and increase power 'for the people'. Taking place between the 8th and 9th of November 1923, it was supported by General Ludendorff, who partially agreed with the ideas, but he was promised power if the putsch succeeded. The private army being used by Hitler attempted to take the barracks of the local forces, to ensure they had power. However, one of the members of the putsch informed the forces, so they were ready. Hitler's forces believed that the German military would not open fire, but the putsch ended when they did.
