monitor vital signs
weight clients daily
note the presence of neck and peripheral vein distension, oedema and dyspnoea
auscultate lung and heart sounds
monitor intake and output
assess for the presence and location of oedema formation
monitor laboratory studies. E.g. sodium, potassium, BUN, and arterial blood gases
