MECHANISMS
What are mechanisms?
Mechanisms are devices that transmit and covert forces and motion from a driving force or input element to an output element
-
Linear motion mechanisms
-
Fixed pulley: wheel that has a groove around lt into which a rope and rotates around an axle that is fixed to an immobile surface
-
-
Movable pulley: set of two pulleys, one is fixed while the other can move in a linear direction
-
-
Compound pulley: this is a system of fixed and moveable pulleys, often called block and tackle
-
Rotary motion mechanisms
Friction drives : made up of the primary drive wheel that when it moves, it drives the second or output wheel
-
-
Pulleys with belt: the rotation of one axle is transmitted to the other through the
connected pulleys
-
-
-
Gear mechanisms with a chain: two cogwheels with parallel axles that rotate simultaneously by means of a metal chain or a toothed belt stretched over both wheels
-
-
-
Pulley trains with belts: system of pulleys, or wheels with a belt formed by more than two wheels
