Relative mass': Protons-1, neutrons-1, electrons-1/1836
-
Isotope: is an atom with the same element and the same number of protons but a different number in neutrons
-
atoms, elements and compounds
element: An element is a substance made up of only one type of atom, defined by it's atomic number. Cannot be broken into simpler subastances
Compounds are found when different elements chemically bond together. They can be separated into their element by electrolysis or heating

charges
Relative charges: Protons=+1 charge, Neutrons=0, Electrons=-1
Atoms have no overall charge because they have an equal number of protons and electrons, therefore cancelling each other out + neutrons don't affect the charge because they are neutral.
Elements differ from each other due to the amount of protons they have which defines there atomic number and chemical properties
atoms differ from each other due to the number of protons and that the neutrons and electrons varying
mixtures

methods for purification+ separation:
Fractional Distillation
Filtration
Distillation
Evaporation
chromatography
