Xiao, also known as Dongxiao and Xiaoguan, is an ancient wind instrument in China, characterized by single pipe, vertical blowing, open pipe, and edge sound :
-
[The xiao is a Chinese vertical end-blown flute. It is generally made of bamboo. It is also sometimes called dòngxiāo, dòng meaning "hole." An ancient name for the xiāo is shùzhúdí but the name xiāo in ancient times also included the side-blown bamboo flute, dizi.

According to the lips, the mouth wind can be divided into two types of elastic lips. If it is divided into the xiao blowing mouth and blowing angle, it can be divided into smooth qi, downward cutting and upward cutting type.
It comes from the opening at the bottom of the xiao tube [3]. Its tone is mellow and soft, quiet and elegant, and is often used for solo, qinxiao ensemble or silk bamboo music performance.
