- - - - The sheng is a Chinese free-reed wind instrument, belonging to the "pao" category of the eight musical instruments. It produces sound through the resonance of the reed and the pipe. It is the only Chinese wind instrument that can produce sound by blowing or inhaling, and it is also the only instrument that can produce harmony.
    - - The Xiao also known as the dongxiao, is an ancient Chinese wind instrument. It is currently divided into southern xiao and northern Xiao. The southern Xiao is relatively thick and short, and the sound is rounder and thicker; the northern Xiao, also known as the qinxiao, is relatively slender, usually played with the guqin, and has a gentler tone. Generally speaking, the sound of the Xiao is soft, quiet and elegant, and is often used for solo, qin and Xiao ensemble or string and bamboo music performance.
  - - - Chi, pronounced "chi", is a bamboo wind instrument originated in China. The obvious difference between Chi and Di is that the bottom of Chi is completely closed with bamboo joints, while the bottom of Di is open.
