navigating to the preferences tab
setting "repeating weekly" availability
using the green to indicate preferred working times

Peer Feedback
making the document both online and digital friendly
given that it will be sent out in email format to the office, digital copies/PDFs make the most sense, but printer friendly will be helpful if we would like to keep a physical copy on hand in the office for students to reference if they are in need of additional assistance
could especially benefit new hires who might want to have the reference on hand while working on setting their availability for the first time rather than clicking between screens to try and understand what is going on
Design Ideas
each page will feature both text descriptors as well as images to demonstrate what expactly students need to be doing and clicking on
use of red arrows and circles/ovals as indicators on the screenshots of the different screens
simple pages (only feature 1-2 steps per page to eliminate crowding and confusion)
other tips and tricks to share
setting date specific availability (if you know in advance that your availability might differ on certain dates)
how to put in a time off request for a specific day/ set of days (to prevent being scheduled when you are unable to work)
Notes from reading
chapter 88
people will make different types of errors in learnin baout and using the product at hand
focus redesign efforts on the spaces in which you've noticed the errors are being made
chapter 85
people are always going to make mistakes, do your best to plan around what you might anticipate to be a mistake
create a prototype and run it by people to see where the mistakes are being made
share infromation about mistakes that have been made so it can be corrected in future instances
chapter 57
people are inherently lazy and the assumption has to be made that people will do the least amount of things possible
people will look for the good enough rather than the optimal solution whenever they can
large fonts and more white space give off the implication of easier to use (making people more likely to be compelled to use it) :!:
chapter 40
attention is selective, people have the capability of devoting their attention to one thing in order to complate a task when necessary
attention can't be assumed
people are easily distracted by large images, animation and video
chapter 34
people learn by example
pictures and screenshots are best for leading by example
short videos are also helpful to lead by example
