Torr Quarry is operated by Aggregate Industries. It is one of eight limestone quarries on the Mendip Hills . Over 100 people are employed at Torr Quarry and it is estimated that the quarry contributes more than £15 million towards the local economy each year. Torr Quarry is a nationally important source of construction materials rock chippings used for a variety of construction such as roads. Three quarters of its output is transported by rail, mostly to the south-east.
