Verb "To be" Simple Past
The uses of the Simple Past are somewhat similar to the uses of the Simple Present, except
that past states or actions are expressed.

First Person: I was / We were
Second Person: You were
Third Person: He was / She was / It was / They were
Contract Forms: wasn't / weren't
examples
Affirmative Sentences: "She was at home." / "They were happy." 😀
Negative Sentences: "She wasn't at home." / "They weren't happy."👧🏻❌🏠
Questions (Short and Long Answers):
"Was she at home?" → Yes, she was. / No, she wasn't.
"Were they happy?" → Yes, they were. / No, they weren't.
Exclamations: "What a beautiful day it was!" / "How amazing it was!" 🌅✨
Simple Presente tense
Infinitive
English verbs may have different forms, depending on the subject of the verb, and depending on when the action expressed by the verb takes place.

Infinitives: to go, to eat, to play, to study, to write, etc.
Affirmative sentences: "He plays tennis." "They study English."
Negative Sentences: "He doesn’t play tennis." "They don’t study English."
