      - Civil war- appointed commissar of nationalities due to toughness and knowledge of minority groups. Disagreements between him and Trotsky over strategies and tactics.
- - - - Ideas of Bukharin seemed to soft, NEP was not strong enough, Stalin argued they did not understand the issues they were facing those around him wanted hardliner they wanted resistance to all enemies of the revolution. They lacked organisation and Stalin had more support, the right did not want to create fractions and remain good party men. The right had an abundance of support from trade unions, Stalin killed and purged many members. Tromsky, Rykov, Bukharin had to publicly apologise and admit the errors of there ways.
