The Social construction of Victimisation
What counts as a victim in the CJS is determined by an attackemnt of the label victim - it is socially constructed
There are too many unreported, unrecorded victims that never comr to the attention of the CJS - Domestic violence, sexual assults, white collar frauds, enviromental harm
In some cases victims may not even realise they have been victimised
Some people are denied the status of a victim because others regard them as responsible for their own victimisation - women and sexual assault, gay men/women and homophobic, transphobic attacks
