'Its not brown, its sunset orange', what colour is that
Introduction
What is colour and how does it work in paintings? That was the core of this talk by Trevor Burgess, a London painter of the impressionist style (I believe, if I'm wrong blame copilot), and the Leeds Literary and Philispcial society (LLPS).

If from this review you wanted a piercing review of what was said or a deep analysis of the claims made by Trevor, this is not the place for you.
This is a review from someone with minimal artistic capablities (and before you say that anyone can paint, a water colour I did of my girlfriend that still haunts our dreams would disagree) to thoses that are not artistic, they drew in school, but really are interested in this topic, because like me, you're a massive nerd and like learning.
From this perspective I must give full credit to both the host and LLPS for a talk that I found, to my suprise, abosuletly reveriting.
Im sure from the name of the society, mainly that it is a non-uni society, that the LLPS has not got many young members, however, you are made to feel very welcome. Everyone from the host to those running the event were kind, happy to help and very happy to have a young person enaging.
Outside the enviroemnt of LLPS, the actual talk had me gripped. I must admit I did not go into the talk with high hopes, after all how much can there be to colour, you combine them at school and pray it doesn't form a weird brown.
But, I'm very pleased to say I was wrong. Trevor was a fantastic speaker who combined a talk that was littered with humour and thoughful questions with a presention that really had some fanstic paintings.
I must admit that I learnt soemthing that I maybe should have already know, such as the difference between primary colours in light and paint, but it was more then that.
The end, with the process of inverting colours really enaged me, and maybe because it had a political bent, I found my self even more engaged in how this really quite simple action can drastically change the paiting.
Conclusion
In my review I can only speak as someone that knows little about paintins and artwork, but this was fantastic.
From the warmth of the people running the event, to the charisma of Trevor as he presented and the surprisingly enaging topic, this lunchtime talk was 5 stars.
