The way the author told the story made it sound like Welles was a hero, by cheering up the people in his community and making his friends laugh, however, the author left out that his act may have been, uncomfortable to watch, disturbing, and seen by the wrong audience. The author made this passage sound as good as possible, and even though it was a humurous act, it was still an inapproprite and reckless performance.
