- - - - Arterioles are small blood vessels that distribute the blood from an artery to the capillaries**. They have smooth muscle walls that stretch and contract to constrict the rate of blood, slowing down any high blood pressure.
    - - Venules are the vessels that carry blood from the capillaries to the veins. They collect blood from the capillary bed, they have a thin vein wall.
- - - - The blood pressure being lower at the venous end of the capillary, allowing the tissue fluid to return to the capillary carrying carbon dioxide and other waste substances into the blood. however, some tissue fluid is directed to the lymphatic system, which drains excess fluid out of the tissues and returns it to blood system in the subclavian vein in the chest.
