All living things are related because we all share the same ancestor known as LUCA. Life began eons ago when some bacteria started to exist. As it continued its life as a single-celled organism it ate and reproduced. Cosiquesualy its population grew. One day a single cell of bacteria ate another organism but for some reason apparently forgot to digest it. This caused a mutation that led to the first multicelled organism. Eventually, that multicelled organism reproduced to make more multicelled organisms. As they evolved they gradually became more complex to become the animals we see today. If something is alive, then it means that it follows all of the seven rules of living. They are organization, homeostasis, metabolism, reproduction, growth and development, response to the environment, and evolution. Homeostasis is being able to stay internally stable regardless of external events. Metabolism is when all of the chemical reactions necessary to survive take place within an organism. Reproduction occurs when an organism copies itself whether that's sexually or asexually. Growth and development is when an organism grows and advances to be better. A response to the environment is a change in behavior due to a certain event. Evolution is the process of continuously advancing to become the best version of yourself whether that's internally or externally. However, there are things that have some characteristics of life but are not considered alive. For example, AI can evolve and respond to its environment but is not yet considered alive. On the flip side, there are some things that do not have all of the characteristics of life but are still considered alive. For example, some scientists consider viruses alive but viruses can not reproduce without a host. Evolutionary history is the history of how things have evolved. We can determine if something has evolved by looking at its ancestors. If there are any differences between them, then whatever that something is has evolved. One thing that might help us with understanding evolutionary history is a phylogenetic tree. A phylogenetic tree is a diagram of multiple different animals that share the same characteristics. Also, you can add characteristics to different parts of the tree to represent that only some of the animals further down the tree share them. Cars relate to common ancestry because of mashups. Mashups are imaginary outcomes of the combination of two cars. It's like the original two cars are the parents and the mashup is their offspring.
