Surveillance: The government spied on everyone. The Gestapo (secret police) listened to people, watched them, and punished anyone who was seen as a threat.
Punishments: If you spoke against the government or broke the rules, you could be arrested, tortured, or killed. Many people were sent to concentration camps.
Censorship: The government controlled what people read, watched, and heard. Books and ideas that disagreed with the Nazis were banned.
