The event was growing quickly and the demands of it could no longer be met just by the venue being a high school.
Buildings and infrastructure already existed at the site making it easy for the event to fit around.
The park has various trees and vegetation that act as natural barriers
No disruptions for the multiple stages
Large space and roads that can be closed are available for parking

They can experience a sense of pride for the culture, especially in front of a large audience

More public awareness of the cultures that make up New Zealand. People can see things from the perspective of a different culture

75,000 attendees in 2024 Polyfest
Up to 100,000 visitors are expected and catered for
The event is intended for all
People with a Polynesian background to be able to enjoy the richness of their culture and take pride in its beauty
For non-polynesian New Zealanders to learn more about the cultures that make up Aotearoa
For tourists to gain a taste of the multiculturalism in Aotearoa and learn lots about their traditions and cuisine

Why?
Enough time has gone by in school calendar for the secondary schools to prepare their acts
Won't interfere with winter sports or NCEA as it is near beginning of the year
Still warm in March, so more likelyhood for good weather
Most planning is confirmed by October/November so costumes, items, etc. can be prepared

Many rubbish bins are available for the public as they are encouraged to be 'litter free' and sustainable
Water stations available for free, as well as promotion of sun safe practices

Environmentally conscious food packaging is used at the event
Due to the event being held at the Manukau Sports bowl which is already flat land used for sporting events, the event has sufficient flat space for staging and stalls.
Roads close around this event which creates a lot of traffic for those living in the area in the days of this event
Foot traffic is also and issue with people walking to the event being loud past residents homes
No violence, no smoking, no alcohol, no gang paraphernalia, no sharp objects (bag checks). This policies are to ensure that everyone has a safe, comfortable and enjoyable time at the event.
