My Teacher Development Roadmap
Pre-Service Stage (PISMP - IPG Training Years)
Focus: Acquiring pedagogical knowledge, educational theories, and classroom management strategies.
Challenges: Balancing coursework, practicum stress (portfolio!), and adapting to different teaching styles.
Growth Areas: Developing lesson planning skills, experimenting with gamification in ESL, and self-reflection (e.g., Schön's reflective model).
Induction Stage (Practicum & First Year of Teaching)
Focus: Transitioning from a student-teacher to a real teacher
Challenges: Managing actual classrooms, handling diverse students (including SEN pupils), and adapting to the school environment.
Growth Areas: Building confidence, improving teaching strategies, and learning from mentors.
Competency Building Stage (2-5 Years of Teaching)
Focus: Refining teaching skills, classroom management, and engaging students effectively
Challenges: Handling work-life balance, dealing with school expectations, and continuous professional development.
Growth Areas: Mastering lesson differentiation, using gamification effectively, and reflecting on practice to improve.
Professional Growth Stage (5-10 Years)
Focus: Becoming a well-rounded educator, contributing to school leadership, and possibly specializing in areas like ESL curriculum development.
Challenges: Higher responsibilities, possibly mentoring new teachers, and staying updated with new educational trends.
Growth Areas: Taking leadership roles, innovating teaching methods, and pursuing postgraduate studies (if desired).
Expert & Leadership Stage (10+ Years)
Focus: Becoming a senior educator, researcher, or education policy contributor.
Challenges: Managing multiple roles, leading initiatives, and keeping the passion alive.
Growth Areas: Publishing research (maybe in gamification and ESL!), training new teachers, and shaping educational policies.
