History
The first edition of the book was successful enough that a second edition was published immediately; however, the second edition was not as successful as expected. Frankl immediately spoke to his publisher, Deuticke, about his frustration at the failure. After the disappointment with the German publication, the book was translated into English under the name From Death-Camp to Existentialism and into Spanish as Desde el campo de la muerte al existencialismo between 1955 and 1959, and sold somewhat better than the first.
Argument
The author bases his work on three parts, known as the first, second and third phases, in an attempt to answer the question: How does the daily life in a concentration camp affect the mind and psychology of the average prisoner?

Personal development: It means that the person feels that he or she is fulfilling his or her aspirations, feeling fulfilled.

It is a personal long- or medium-term plan that is intended to be followed over the years. It is designed in order to meet certain specific objectives or goals.

Goals in life
They are all those purposes, ends, desires or objectives that a person sets in life and towards which he directs all his resources and actions to achieve them.

Long-term personal goals
These are all those that require more time to be accomplished and, often, are the sum of several short-term goals.
