How far was Hitler responsible for causing WW2, how far was jonathan…
How far was Hitler responsible for causing WW2
Mix of both
Britain did not take forcing actions
Appeasement
Hitler got what he wanted and thought that Britain and France would not want to start a war
Right thing
Britain was not ready to fight a huge war of attrition as they had other things to deal with. Public opinion was very unpopular with the idea of another war.
wrong thing
Britain indirectly gave Germany permission to bully other countries like Czechoslovkia. It also indirectly gave Hitler time& confidence as it displayed the leagues weakness.
Not responsible
LON was weak to enforce anti-expansionist policies against the rising fascist aggression.
Abyssinia crisis
Italy invaded Ethiopia and violated the Geneva convention
Japan invaded Manchuria
Britain and France as the main coutries in LON were tired and unwilling to deal a conflict in far east. For their own safety of Asian colonies, they didn't want to worsen the relationship with Japn as well
TOV was too harsh and unfair to Germany, germany had 18% of land taken away, mostly industrial and still had to pay reparations
The Great Depression: it forced coutries to remilitarise, and increased the tarrif which worsened the international diplomatic environment
responsible
Aggressive foreign policy
anschluss
hitler held a plebiscite in austria with the german army as supervisors, to find out if the austrian peoples would like to unite with germany, it was said that the german army scared the people to vote for reunification
sudetenland and czechoslovakia
in september of 1938, hitler annexed the sudetenland under the reasoning that the sudetenland had a lot of ethnic germans, he then proceeded to invade the whole of czechoslovakia a month later
Spanish civil war: Sent voluntary troops which tested new weapons and military ideas(blitz, plane and tank). It stregthened the ambitions of Hitler
Hitler invaded to Poland: Hitler thought Britain and France would still acquiesce his action, but yet they declared the war, which caused the breakout of WWII directly.
