Conditionals
Type 1

Use
- We use in case to talk about things we should to do to be prepare or ready for possible future situations.
Eg: Let's make more cakes in case Mia comes.
- We use conditional type 1 to talk about a real or very probable situation in the present or future.
Eg: If we start using wind energy, we will save money on electric city.
- We can use unless instead of if ... not in if-clause. The verb is always in the affirmative after unless.
Eg: Unless we start using wind energy, we won't save money on electric.
Type 2
Use
- We use were for both singular and plural subjects. However, we can sometimes use was ( with I, he, she, it) informal speech.
Eg: If Mary were/was a mayor, she would invest more money in green energy.
- We use connditional type 2 to talk about an imaginary situation contrary to facts in the present.
Eg: If I had enough money, I would buy solar panels for my house.
- To give advice.
Eg: If I would install solar panels on the
house rooftop to reduce my carbon footprint.

Use
- To express regrets or criticism.
Eg: If they had maintained the wind turbines properly, they wouldn't have stopped working.
- To talk about unreal or imaginary situations in the past.
Eg: If the city had switched to wind power last year, the would have been fewer green house emissions.
