- - - - RuBP is critical to a plant's ability to grab onto carbon and create the sugars it needs to grow and survive. Without RuBP, there's no photosynthesis, no "energy" for a plant. The equation is: RuBP (5C) + CO2 + H2O → 2 3-PGA (3C)
  - - - When concentration of carbon dioxide increases, photosynthesis also accelerates as long as the temperature and intensity of light are not limiting factors. This is because increased CO2 enables the production of more glucose via the Calvin cycle.
- - - - Photosynthesis happens at a steady pace relative to light levels up to a maximum level reached. In other words, the greater the number of photons hitting the chlorophyll molecules, the more energy they absorb, and in turn, the more ATP and NADPH generated for use during the Calvin Cycle. The Calvin Cycle is the sequence of reactions plants undergo to fix carbon from carbon dioxide and other components into glucose.
    - - Eventually, a point is reached where increasing light intensity no longer increases the rate of photosynthesis. At this plateau, other factors (like temperature or carbon dioxide concentration) become limiting.
    - - If light intensity becomes too high, it can damage the photosynthetic machinery, leading to a decrease in the rate of photosynthesis—a phenomenon known as photoinhibition.
