Network Communication Technology and Network Resources - Coggle Diagram
Network Communication Technology and Network Resources
Bluetooth
Adv- No need for a router as the devices communicate directly with each other, cheap to use, uses a lot less power than other technologies
Devices must be synchronised to connect
Short range wireless technology that connects 2 devices which are in a close proximity
Mobile Communications Technology
Expensive to set up- Focused on highly populated areas
5G is more reliable and has higher speeds than 4G
4G is capable of high speed data access and high quality video streaming using wireless tech on a global scale
Wi-fi
Stands for Wireless fidelity
Adv- No need for cabling, easier to share network amongst many users
Wi-fi connections use radio waves and a wireless router
Dis-Signal strength varies, may be insecure
Optical Fibre
Each strand carries one data signal- so many data signals can be sent at once in a bundle
Data is transferred in pulses of light
Uses thin glass strands to send data at very fast speeds
Can't be interfered with by hacker
Expensive
Switch
A switch allows a large number of computers to be connected to a network
Checks the destination of data and ensures it is forwarded to the intended computer
Network Interface Card (NIC)
An NIC is an electronic circuit board installed into a computer toi allow to be connected to a network
Each computer in a network needs to be installed with an NIC so that it can communicate with the files server
Router
IP addresses are used to determine the route the data travels on
It examines data as it passes and forwards it using the most appropriate route
This is a hardware device that connects a number of networks together either by cable or wireless
Network Cables
A network cable physically connects a computer to a network
Usually made out of copper
Cables classified into different categories depending on speed
