ATTATCHMENT - Coggle Diagram
ATTATCHMENT
Role of the Father
-
-
-
- Researchers suggest that fathers wouldn't be good primary caregivers as they dont produce enough oxytocin that a child needs them to have
- Research has found role of the father is far more complex and when the father is the primary caregiver - more likely to take on a more nurturing role, show much more reciprocity, baby will search for them when hey want emotional support
DEGREE OF SESITIVITY
historically, fathers weren't around during the day. The more the father looks after the child when they're crying, putting them to bed, feeding theme etc, the stronger the bond will become
- research has also shows that the father is more likely to display the same attachment type with their child as they did with their own parents but this isn't something that the mother experiences (bond between males parents is far more important than females when becoming a parent)
-
AO3 - gender bias to begin with, if we see fathers as less important - they will have less rights to their children in Courts (10% of cases fathers get custody of their children)
AO3 - modern research has lead to paternity leave which is now cumpolsary in all work places - lead to a negative impact on the economy
4 STAGES

Indiscrimanate
- show a preference for humans, dont have stranger anxiety and haven't formed a primary attatchment
Specific
- form primary attachment figure and develop stranger anxiety
Multiple
- form secondary attachments (father, other family members)
-
