Intuition and Deduction thesis - Coggle Diagram

- - - - rational intuition is an a priori faculty that enables us to see truth, Descartes believed that any idea that was clear and distinct to our rational intuition could be considered true
  - - - Ideas can only be adventitious/fictitious/innate, I have an imperfect & finite mind, I have an idea of a perfect & infinite being (god), imperfect finite mind cannot come up with that so not fictitious, we live in an imperfect & finite world therefore we cannot experienced god in the world so not adventitious, god must be innate, the cause of an effect must be as real as the effect, our idea of god is real so the cause is also real and the only cause can be god. GOD IS THE CAUSE OF GOD
        
        Cartesian circle: 1) God exists and isn't a deceiver because I perceive it clearly and distinctly 2) Clear and distinct ideas can be trusted as truths because God would not allow me to be mistaken by them
        
        not a strong argument as it ASSUMES clear and distinct ideas are true in order to assert that they are true
    - - i have the idea of god, the idea of god is the idea of a supremely perfect being, a supremely perfect being does not lack any perfection, existence is a perfection, therefore god exists
    - - i know i exist but what caused my existence? option 1: me, this cannot be the cause because i would have given myself all perfections option 2: i have always existed but this cannot be the cause because i would remember that option 3: my parents/some other being, my parents may have caused my BIRTH but i do not rely on them to EXIST so not the cause option 4: god, he is the last sensible option
