2.3 PROCESS AND CAPACITY DESIGN
Process: one or more actions that transform inputs into outputs
Different types of process: Job shop , Batch, Repetitive, Continuous Flow
2.4 LOCATION
1.Decide on the criteria to use for evaluating location alternatives
2.Identify important factors, such as the location of markets or raw materials.
3.Develop location alternatives: country- region- community- site
4.Evaluate the alternatives and make a selection.
2.5 LAYOUT DESIGN AND STRATEGY
Layout is the configuration of departments, work centers, and equipment, with particular emphasis on movement of work (customers or materials) through the system
Types
Product Layout: A layout that uses standardized processing operations to achieve smooth, rapid, high-volume flow.
Process Layout: A layout that can handle varied processing requirements.
Fixed-position layout: A layout in which the product or project remains stationary. Workers, materials, and equipment are moved as needed.
