: Single layer of cells; specialized for absorption, secretion, and filtration.
Subtypes

Simple Cuboidal
Kidney tubules, glandular ducts, thyroid follicles.
Simple Columnar
Lining of the stomach, intestines, gallbladder.
Simple Squamous:
Lining of blood vessels, alveoli of lungs, Bowman's capsule in kidneys.
Pseudostratified Columnar
Lining of the respiratory tract (trachea, bronchi), male reproductive tract.
Stratified Epithelium: Multiple layers of cells; provides protection against mechanical stress and abrasion.

Sweat gland ducts, salivary gland ducts.
Stratified Columnar
Parts of the male urethra, conjunctiva of the eye.
Stratified Squamous Non-Keratinized
Lining of the oral cavity, esophagus, vagina.
