Disestablishment of the Irish Church 1869

No longer would it be a state church
monarchy would no longer appoint the bishops
no longer got seats in parliament
Also disendowed most of its property and assets, and they were transferred to ecclesiastical commisioners
Secret Ballot Act 1872
Basically everyone could vote without persuasion from landlords
No more public voting
However backfired as votes for the Irish Nationalist Party skyrocketed
Relationship with monarchy
Gladstone alienated the Queen but this wasn't his intention she just found him patronising
Irish Land Act 1870
Gladstone took the land away from British landowneras and tried to give it to Irish tenants
Didn't really work as the Irish tenants were not financially stable enough to purchase the land
