Scientific name
Latin, always in italics and capitalise the first word. Example: Bufo bufo = common toad
Oviviparous
Producing eggs but they hatch in the body (some snakes, some sharks )

Ambassador or flagship species is generally known as a popular, charismatic species that serves as a symbol and rallying point to stimulate conservation awareness and pro-conservation behaviour, translated into actions such as philanthropy and volunteering
Oviparous
Laying eggs which hatch outside the body (Birds, most snakes)

Ethical sourcing
Methods of sourcing an animal for a private / public collection that has the least impact upon the species or habitat (and welfare of the animals)

Pinioning
Cut off the pinion (of a bird wing) to prevent flight. Historically, a very popular way to house zoo birds - now not commonly practised (unethical)
Diversity
The state of being diverse, or having a variety. Biodiversity = variety of living organisms from all sources (aka - all life on earth)
