injury provention
Intrinsic risk factors
previous injury - an athlete should never return to training after an injury until declared fit to do so. Injuries can cause a loss in connective tissue strength, decreased joint stability
postured alignment - eg scoliosis, biomechanics changes requiring connective tissues to handle forces in natural ways.
age - increases injury risk as bone tissue loses strength and as connective tissue suffer overuse, and more prone to injruy
nutrition, carbohydrates for energy production to reduce the onset of fatigue, fats for protection, calcium for muscle growth and repair
training effects
-
-
inappropriate fitness level can lead to poor joint stability. poor flexibility in connective tissue can limit ROM and lead to acute sprain

intrinsic risk factors
risk or forces from within the body. aspects of an individuals physical make up eg posture, nutrition, training effects
extrinsic risk factors
risk factors or forces from outside the body, poor biomechanics training, incorrect equipment
