leading paradigm: set of ideas, beliefs, or values that guide how people leave
race, class, gender, sexuality, and disability are significant influences on an individual women's experiences
intersectionality is an important when attempting to define, understand, and advocate for the needs of women
the idea of intersectionality emerged in late 20th cent. through the powerful critiques of second-wave feminism
- conflicts of following feminist activism however still experience forms of racism from fellow activists
- black and brown women are faced with both racism and sexism

many women who face overt discrimination have not felt represented in feminist organizations/movements in the past - working class women critique on the liberal feminists assumption that working away from home was the key to women's liberation
hegemonic feminism: feminism that was "white led, marginalized the activism and world views of WOC, with focus mainly on the US and treat sexism as the ultimate oppression"
feminism is the political theory and practice to free all women: WOC, working class, poor women, physically challenged women, lesbians, old women, as well as white econ. privileged heterosexual women
single axis: term used in intersectional research to denote those persepctives, methods, and modes of analysis that privelige one diemsion of inequality
