HEPATITIS B
Definition
viral infection caused by the Hepatitis B virus (HBV) that primarily affects the liver, leading to inflammation and potential liver damage. It can range from an acute, self-limiting infection to a chronic condition that increases the risk of liver cirrhosis, liver failure, or hepatocellular carcinoma
-
Pathogenesis
-
-
Viral replication produces HBsAg, HBeAg, and HBcAg, leading to immune activation.
Acute infection resolves in most adults, but chronic infection can lead to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
