Principles Application
This phase teaches how to properly use visuals to show how to best use visuals to support and not overwhelm the learning, which will disrupt learning.
Depending on the visuals are audios you are using, you can accidentally cause a 'cognitive overload.' To combat this, you meed to provide audio explanation and the ability to pause or replay the media.
The three facets of graphics are Treatment, Individual Graphic and Layout.
Determine Context
To determine your context, you need to consider your audience and their physical surroundings where the visuals are displayed.
Ensure your graphic does not contain poor lighting, low resolution or bandwidth, or else your message is considered "lost" and will have no impact on the learners.
Important factors that play into context are your Leaners, the Learning Environment, the Delivery Medium and your Constraints.
Communication Function
Determine where your graphics will be displayed, whether on paper, a computer or representational and transformational. This will aid in defining what visuals will illustrate your concepts.
Five content types are involved in this phase: Procedure, Concepts, Fact, Process and Principle
Stills are effective for demonstration and animation is useful for showing skills that involve motion.
Design Visual Approach
The "look and feel" of your graphics is one of the most important steps of the visual model, as you have to consider its page orientation, colors, function and real estate.
To avoid confusion or appearing tone deaf, you must consider the subject matter of the graphic and what is or is not appropriate.
Define Goals

If the skill building focuses on amplifying procedural knowledge, the you are gaining near-transfer skills.
If the skill building focuses on principle based knowledge then you are gaining far-transfer skills.
