Steps to build
- Set down the Large platform A, and put the medium canister on it.
- Set down a Medium platform A, and place an Auto arm on it. Turn on the Auto arm by pressing F on it, and make sure the GREEN circle can fully reach the Large platform A. Put a nugget of Astronium in the middle slot of the Auto arm.
- Set down the Large platform B. Put the two Medium storages on the "wings" of the platform. There's a red arrow in the platform in between the studs of the middle slot. Place the Trade platform so, that the control panel faces the same way as the arrow. Open the control panel of the Trade platform, and select the Astronium to Solid-fuel jumpjets -option. Now, look at the arrow of the platform, and imagine that's "forward". The Trade platform will dump the traded stuff to its left side. So place the Storage sensor in the left Medium storage, and MAKE SURE the medium storage gets outlined before placing down the sensor. Press F on the sensor until it says "Mode: Full or empty". Move the platform so, that the Auto Arm with the Astronium has its BLUE circle on top of the "right" Medium storage. Now, pull a target pin from the Storage sensor, and place the endpoint into the base of the Trade platform. Now, place four Compound into the "right" Medium storage. For clarification, this is the same Medium storage where the previous Auto arm will place Astronium.
- Set down an Extra large platform C, and from left to right place first a Large shredder, then Extra large shredder, then Large resource canister. Then make another identical platform setup.
- Place an Auto arm on a Medium platform A, then put a Solid fuel jumpjet as a filter. Make another identical platform setup. Orient these platforms 90° apart from each other, and MAKE SURE their GREEN ring is around the "left" Medium storage of the Large platform B.
- Place the Extra large platform C's really close to the Auto arms' output zone, and MAKE SURE that both Auto arms can reach BOTH shredders (BLUE ring is in the middle of the two shredders).
- Pull cables across all platforms, make sure every Auto arm is activated (upright position), make sure the Large resource canisters have their output DISABLED, and finally fill the Medium resource canister with Astronium.
How to operate
- Once the Medium resource canister is filled with Astronium, place it down on the Large platform A.
- Wait for the Auto arm to place four Astronium into the Trade platform.
- Open the Trade platform's panel, and make sure the trade is set to Astronium to Solid-fuel jumpjets. Press the green button.
- Now the farm will operate autonomously until it runs out of Astronium or both canisters fill with Scrap. The farm has a ratio of 1:3 in Astronium to Scrap, so one piece of Astronium would get you three pieces of Scrap.
- Be sure that the farm receives the full amount of power at all times (38 U/s)
- Monitor the farm periodically. If the Scrap canisters start to fill up, disable the output of the Astronium canister.
