"Marley was dead to begin with"

Stave Three
Scrooge is visited by the GOC Present
"Come in and know me better man!"
Scrooge is taken to the Cratchit home.
"Hurrah! There's such a goose Martha!"
"but nobody said or thought it was at all a small pudding for a large family."
"The boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want. Beware them both"
Stave Four
Scrooge is visited by the GOC Yet To Come, the final ghost
"The Phantom slowly, gravely, silently approached"
"left nothing of it visible save one outstretched hand"
Stave Two
Scrooge is visited by the GOC Past
"like a child: yet not so like a child as like an old man"
"Your lip is trembling" said the Ghost "And what is that upon your cheek?"
