Bicycle Drawing Analysis Sam (Stage 2, Year 4)
Assessment Purpose
Description
Students observe a bicycle in the classroom or outside and then draw this based on their observations. Students use a viewing frame to focus on parts of the bike, looking at lines, patterns and shapes, drawing what they see (NESA, n.d.)
Outcomes
VAS2.1 - Represents the qualities of experiences and things that are interesting or beautiful by choosing amongst aspects of subject matter.
VAS2.2 - Uses the forms to suggest the qualities of subject matter (NESA, 2006, p. 24).
Means of Assessment

Students will be assessed on their: :check: Use of a range of drawing
materials and techniques to
represent the qualities of a bicycle. :check: Focus on the textures, shapes, lines and patterns of the bicycle (NESA, n.d.)
Descriptive & Evaluative Feedback (Kivunja, 2015, p. 407) The assessment process uses criteria-based phases to identify strengths and weaknesses, measuring student achievement with a score. The criteria could be revised to include feedback on creativity and perspective.
Judgement
Grade A - Student possesses extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and can readily apply this knowledge. The student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations (NESA, n.d.)
The grade given is accurate as the work sample correlates with the requirements of the outcomes, criteria, sequence of content and achievement, demonstrating extensive knowledge and understanding of the subject matter's qualities, as well as the processes and skills needed to execute these (NESA, n.d)
