World Class Performance Programme
Levels
1) Podium:
Designed to support athletes with a strong chance of winning a medal at the next Olympic games.
2) Podium Potential
Designed to support athletes who could make the Olympic Team and win a medal at the next/future Olympic games.
3) Relay
For athletes who are considered to have the potential to win medals in relay events.
4) Confirmation
Helps athletes develop their potential in their first couple of years in a high performance program.
How do they support Athletes?
Coaching
1) Individual:
Provides personalised coaching and mentoring for athletes
2) Specialists:
Access to specialists coaches such as physiotherapists, nutritionists, sport psychologist
Access
The athletes are given access to the top facilities in the UK and around the world to go and train.
Funding
1) National Lottery
As it is from UK Sport, it recieves funding from national lottery to support living and sporting costs for the athletes
2) Athlete Performance Awards
Awards based on an athlete's level and performance. Amount of award will vary
What is it?
A UK Sport funded program that helps athletes achieve success in global sporting events.
It is designed to identify, develop and support athletes who have the potential to win medals at the Olympics or Paralympics or other major championships
Who has it helped?
To the lead up of Rio 2016, there was funding for 21 podium groups such as Jessica Ennis- Hill and Mo Farah.
Jessica ended up winning silver and Mo won gold
