Athena photosynthesis - Coggle Diagram
Athena photosynthesis
Products of photosynthesis is
Sugar (Glucose)
Excess
Stored as starch in storeage
Stems
Roots
Transported from leaves to other parts of the plant
Food for plants & animals
Test for starch
Boil the leaf
To break down cell walls
Immerse the leaf in alcohol
Use iodine
If starch is present
Iodine will turn dark blue
It starch is not present
Iodine will remain reddish brown
To remove green pigment(chlorophyll)
Increases when the rate of photosynthesis increases
Oxygen
Needed for respiration for both plants & animals
Test for oxygen
Place a glowing splint at the mouth of the test tube
If it relights
Oxygen is present
Materials needed for photosynthes is
Water
Carbon dioxide
Not the same when testing is carbon dioxide is present
Lime water test
Test if carbon dioxide is needed for photosynthesis
Chlorophyll
Test if chlorophyll is needed for photosynthesis
Use a bicoloured leaf to test for starch
Green part
Green chlorophyll is present and will test positive for starch
White part
Green chlorophyll is not present and will test negative for starch
Traps light
Test if light is needed for photosynthesis
Cover part of the leaf with black paper
After a few hours pluck the leaf from the plant and test for starch
When light intensity increases, rate of photosynthesis increases
