Global effects of Climate Change
Habitat Loss
Arctic animals like polar bears and seals are losing habitats due to melting ice caused by climate change. This threatens their survival and disrupts fragile ecosystems.
Hotter weather caused by climate change is fuelling wildfires, destroying forests and critical habitats where animals live, forcing them to migrate or face extinction.
Warmer oceans are causing coral reefs to expel algae they depend on, turning them white and lifeless, which in turn makes them inhabitable for marine species such as fish or starfish.
Rising temperatures are disrupting habitats and threatening wildlife this is forcing migrations like how we have seen in polar bears. Humans are also facing heatwaves, water scarcity, reduced crops, and health risks, increasing food insecurity and displacement.
Ocean Warming
Rising global temperatures are causing oceans to absorb heat, this is a big issue as it is leading to warmer waters that disrupt marine ecosystems, affecting coral reefs, fish populations, and marine biodiversity.
Many marine species like fish and sea and turtles are struggling to adapt to changing water temperatures. For example, the Atlantic cod have been struggling with warming oceans which has disrupted their birth production and survival.
Human Health Risks
Rising temperatures are causing more and more fires, which is actively worsening air quality, causing an increase in smog and allergens like pollen. Poor air causes respiratory issues, including asthma and bronchitis, which is again affecting our elderly.
Floods and rising waters caused by climate change are destroying homes, displacing communities, and ruining crops. They also contaminate drinking water which in turn spreads diseases which further dishevels community.
Climate change is causing hotter weather which causes heatwaves, in turn this creates circumstances for heat exhaustion or heatstroke which tends to be fatal against our elderly.
Global warming is making our waters warmer which helps promote bacteria like Vibrio help contaminated seafood and water, posing serious health risks worldwide.
Natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina show how climate change fuels stronger storms. They do this by warming up the ocean which in turn makes the storms stronger.
Increased Extreme Weather Events
Global warming has been shown in recent years to intensify hurricanes and typhoons via the increase in ocean temperatures for example huricanne milton or katrina. these warm waters are also fueling stronger storms with heavier rainfall at higher wind speeds which also helps cause storm surges an floods.
Global warming is disrupting polar vortex patterns, leading to stronger blizzards with heavy snowfall, causing travel disruptions, infrastructure damage, and increased safety risks.
Global warming has been shown to increase atmospheric instability thus causing tornados. This causes more frequent and stronger storms, leading to greater destruction, infrastructure damage, and safety risks.
Extreme weather events like floods, wildfires, and hurricanes
caused by climate change destroy habitats, force animals to relocate or face extinction, disrupting ecosystems worldwide.
