Solar panels are an unreliable source of energy, requiring the light from the sun to function. Due to this, energy production at night and during storms are at a zero. Additionally, their being required to be outdoors makes them highly vulnerable to things like harmful weather and flooding. Solar panels also use minerals like silicon, which are mined by ethically concerning means. Silicon is mined in many third world countries, often with children and low to no pay. On top of this, the workers often have no unions, or means of protecting themselves against the dangerous gases and chemicals released during the mining process, relying on primitive and dangerous means to extract minerals and feed their families.
