Renewable energy sources
-
Hydro dams
Hydro dams use flowing water from rivers or waterfalls to create kinetic energy which it uses to turn a turbine. This turbine turns into mechanical energy which goes into a generator and turns it into elecctricity.
-
Geothermal energy
Geothermal energy is taken from the earths surface. Geothermal power plants take liquid from underground water spots to the surface to produce heated liquid. This hot liquid then drives turbines that generate electricity before it is re-injected back into its original spot.
-
Wind Energy
Wind energy comes from wind turbines that are usually in an open windy area. Wind rotates the rotor blades, which convert kinetic energy into rotational energy And then electricity.
-
Bioenergy
Biopower technologies change renewable biomass fuels into heat electricity using a similar process as fossil fuels go through. There are three ways to harvest the biomass energy to produce biopower: burning, bacterial decay, and conversion to a gas or liquid fuel.
