Water
Carbon dioxide
Cholorophyll
Traps light
When the light intensity increases, the rate of photosynthesis increases
Test if light is needed for photosynthesis
cover part of the leaf with black paper
After a few hours pluck the leaf from the plant and test for starch
Part of the leaf exposed to sunlight
Positive for starch
Part of the leaf under the black paper
Negative for starch
Test if chlorophyll is needed
for photosynthesis
Use a biocoloured leaf to test for starch
White part
Green chlorophyll is not present and will test negative for starch
Green part
Green chlorophyll is present and will test positive for starch
