Electricity
Electric Charge
Everyday objects are made up of billions of atoms. Sometimes some of these atoms gain or lose electrons and become charged.
If the object loses electrons then there will be fewer electrons than protons and the object will have a positive charge.
If the object gains electrons then there will be more electrons than protons and the object will have a negative charge.
Charged objects are said to have static electricity. Opposite charges attract while like charges repel.
