COASTS - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Out at at sea the waves roll like in a gale, they can be over 30m high. But at shore they break.
      - BACKWASH- when the water rolls back into the sea, shorty after nother wave will arive.
      - .giving turbulent water called SWASH. The water rushing up the sand is called UPRUSH.
    - - Erosion
        
        1)The waves hit the rock and overtime it breaks
        
        2)The water forces into the rock’s cracks- HYDRAULIC ACTION
        
        3)The bits of rock get worn down by knocking against each other- ATTRITION. They get smaller and smaller and they end up as pebbles and sand.
        
        4)Sand and Pebbles fling against the rock-ABRASION
        
        5)the soluble meterial of the rock then dissolves in water :
      - transport
        
        waves carry the eroded material away
        
        the pebble is carried by the backwash and upwash this is called longshore drift
      - deposit
        
        if the waves deposit more than what it takes, it forms a beach
  - - - as the moon travels around earth, it attracts the sea and pulls it upwards. Since the sun is further away its pull is not so strong.
      - The drop in sea level from high to low is called tidal range
