Characters
Shylock
Shylock is a Jewish moneylender who feels mistreated by the Christians in Venice. He lends money to Antonio but demands a pound of flesh if the debt is not paid, showing his anger and thirst for revenge.
Bassanio
Bassanio is a young man who wants to marry Portia. He borrows money from his friend Antonio to travel to Belmont and win her love. He is loyal and caring but depends on others for help.
Antonio
Antonio is a generous merchant who deeply loves his friend Bassanio. He borrows money from Shylock to help Bassanio, but he risks losing his life when he cannot repay the debt.
Portia
