The ideological aspect concers the role of the writer. He places himself, in the widespread tradition of the African world, as a guide, as a teacher, as one whogives voice and answers to the problems of his own people: he must be a critical conscience and a visionary conscience, capable of warning and denouncing, and capable of proposing the path to follow towards the ideal he glimpsed
The denunciation of colonialism, the plundering suffered by a land and its people by the imperial power; and to denounce the regimes born after indipendence, their corruption, their ferocity, the plunder that they have inflicted on their own land and on their own people. It is a dimension of commitment that has a very high price: prison for Achebe and Soyinka
